David Junior’s First Birthday

David Junior turned 1 this month. His parents wanted to capture this special milestone with a themed baseball portrait session. Our shoot was awesome! Not only did we have a beautiful day with golden light but David Junior (DJ) was the most pleasant 1 year old I’ve met! This little guy is not only adorable but he has such an easy-to-love personality too! Enjoy some of my favorites of our shoot together!

DJ had his own special chair for the occasion…a baseball bean bag chair! How appropriate! It was an early birthday present from his aunt and he sat in it like he had it forever. At one point, he was reclining in it.

DJ’s dad also had a baseball and small glove that DJ could use. I was so excited to get some shots of little DJ with the mitt and ball in his hand. It looks like he’s a pro already!

We definitely wanted to capture a few family portraits as well.

Dave Senior is a huge St. Louis Cardinals’ fan while his wife, Brandy, is a Pittsburgh Pirates’ fan. It was extra fun to have both teams represented during the shoot. Dave brought a really special prop with him…a base from an actual game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates! We got a few photos with DJ and this special base.

I love the below photo so much!!! Sliding into the base with that facial expression is priceless!!!

Taking photos of this happy little guy was such a pleasure! Notice that we had 2 mini bats representing both teams as well. It’s going to be interesting to find out which team DJ is going to cheer for when he grows up!

It was finally time for the much anticipated “smash cake” portion of the shoot. I captured this candid moment between DJ and his mom before cake time. I love their connection!
